April 15 - 19: Guest astronomer Jim Pickering will be in residence at St. George Island State Park. Anyone interested in working with Jim can visit him at campsite #52.
April 27 - May 9 (dates approximate) - John Gorrie State Park will be closed for maintenance.
May 16, 2026: Junior Ranger Jamboree at SGI State Park, East Slough Beach Use Area, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
This statewide event invites kids to spend the day in the park to discover and explore the island's natural and cultural resources, learn about park stewardship, and join group activities with new friends.
During Jamboree events, children and families can work through the Junior Ranger passport activities and be officially sworn in as a Junior Ranger and receive their own badge.
